DISCIPLESHIP AT HOPE UNITED
CHURCH
CHRISTIAN
EDUCATION
Hope United is dedicated to growth in spirit
and knowledge for all ages through the study
of God’s word and other Christian works. On
Sunday mornings the Adult class meets at 8
a.m. Nursery and toddlers care and
enrichment is provided at the 9 a.m. and
10:30 a.m. services. Older children are
encouraged to participate in worship until
the “Message for Children” after which they
are excused for class. (at the 9 a.m.
service).
During the week we are excited about our
growing Tuesday evening Youth Club where
over 30 young people gather (see article
below). Other opportunities for
spiritual growth are on Wednesday mornings
from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. and Wednesday evenings
from 7-8 p.m. The evening class is preceded
by a potluck supper. In addition the Women’s
Bible group meets the first Thursday of each
month. “Old Songs for a New Millennium” is
the current theme of study. |

HOPE
YOUTH

Tuesday’s from 6 to 8pm
at Hope United Church are chaotic, noisy,
exciting and exhilarating as 40 plus school
age children gather to share fun and games,
Bible study and a meal. Under the direction
of a team of teachers who are “sold out” for
Jesus, this program has come alive as a
place youth from the congregation and the
neighborhood want to come to be with friends
and adults who care, and to explore their
growth in Christ.

In addition to weekly
activities, the kids are currently raising
funds to attend summer camp at Montreat.
Opportunities for all abound, from pancake
breakfasts and yard sales, to car washes and
t-shirts. Your participation and support are
always welcome as we watch God at work in
the lives of our kids. Thank you! |

WOMEN’S
PRAYER GROUP
“More things are wrought
by prayer than this world dreams of”
From “The Idylls of the King” by Alfred Lord
Tennyson
One of the most powerful forces in the
world, maybe the most powerful, is prayer.
This has certainly been true time and time
again for the Women’s Prayer Group of Hope
United Church. We gather twice a month on
the second and fourth Wednesdays at 2:00 p.
m. to study and pray for those in need. All
are welcome. “Oh, I can’t join a prayer
group. I find it too difficult to pray out
loud in public, and I can’t find the right
words to express myself”. If this is how you
feel? Don’t worry. As we gather to share
burdens, enrich our and others’ lives, and
nurture our spirits no one is ever pressured
to pray out loud. We are committed to
learning how to listen to God’s still small
voice. Our prayer requests are always
confidential. Please call the church office
to leave a request or come and join us in
prayer.
